Dexter® Magnet Kits

Genuine Dexter® magnet kits from Southwest Wheel® replace the worn electric-brake magnet on Dexter 7", 10", 12", and 12-1/4" trailer brakes. Each kit typically includes the magnet assembly, retaining clip, and spring so the magnet seats on the actuating arm and contacts the drum correctly.

Match the Dexter kit number and wire color to the original magnet. Common 12" x 2" examples are the white-wire K71-105-00 kit for 5.2K/6K brakes and the black-wire K71-125-00 kit for 7K brakes. Replace magnets in pairs on the same axle so both wheels apply evenly. Inspect the drum, shoes, and lever arm at the same time; a grooved drum will wear a new magnet quickly.
