Built on a Foundation of Trust
It started on Commerce Street in Dallas in 1919, when Fred Prior opened a shop selling tires and wheel services. Two years later it became Dallas Wheel & Rim Company — right as the industry shifted from high-pressure to pneumatic tires.
More than 100 years later, Southwest Wheel is still family-owned, still stocking the parts that keep trucks and trailers moving. The faces change. The commitment does not.

In 1919, Fred Prior opened a modest tire and wheel shop on Commerce Street in Dallas. He couldn't have known he was laying the foundation for an institution that would outlast him by generations — spanning 13 states, three manufacturers, and more than a century of American industry.
His portrait hangs in our conference room today. A reminder that every wheel we ship, every truck we keep on the road, traces back to one person's decision to start something worth keeping.
